Zucca Rabarbaro Amaro Liqueur

Color : Bronze highlights flecked through tawny brown liquor.
Nose : This is a liquor scented by it’s herbacious origins.
Palate : On the palate dark chocolate with a bitter burnt coffee aftertaste.

Ettore Zucca created this Rabarbaro (rhubarb) amaro in 1845 and soon his Rabarbaro Zucca became a symbol of sophisticated Milan, much admired for its deep, rich, and smokey flavors. Appreciated by Vittorio Emanule and members of the Savoy House, Zucca named a Supplier to the Royal House. Zucca is also known for the oldest and best known amari and coffee bars in Milan: the Zucca in Galleria. It was opened in 1867 and still stands today at the Gallerias entrance, just opposite the Duomo. There Zucca is served in equal parts with soda water on crushed ice, or as is most common, with tonic on ice – an ideal aperitif.

From the day we began designing and building our still in 2011, the Ventura Spirits mission has been to use the natural and agricultural bounty of California’s central coast to hand-craft novel and delicious spirits. We’re driven by a sense of exploration and discovery, and we’re passionate about creating liquors with inputs that are unexplored or underutilized. We aim to contribute to a regional spirits tradition with extraordinary new products that foster a strong appreciation for our area of the world.

All Ventura Spirits are a sublime mix of the wild and the cultivated. Our approach to distilling constitutes a challenge to ourselves and to our customers– to be more curious, more creative, and better consumers of distilled liquors, to strain against the status quo and assemble new inputs and combinations in a delightful and authentic way.
